Water No. 5

48" x 36" Oil on Reclaimed Poplar and Beech Wood.

Water No. 5 is base don a photo I took on a short sail out from Dana Point harbor. This was my first experiment playing with water based oils on wood, various wood treatments were applied to allow the pigments and colors in the paint to not get lost in the grain. The oils produced a very rich color that I was very happy with. Staring at the moving ocean is my favorite form of mediation. This wood canvas is 3 pieces of reclaimed wood from the early 1900s from Kentucky.
