Sea Meditation No. 2
Sea Meditations are a series of abstract seascapes that use color and tone to evoke the feeling of the sea’s vastness and its ever-changing nature. This particular piece carries the echoes of a fully rendered ocean painting beneath its surface—layers of waves, reflections, and movement now hidden, yet still present. I painted over it many times with thin, glazed layers, allowing the history of each brushstroke to subtly emerge through the abstraction.
The process mirrors the sea itself: always shifting, with depths unseen beneath the surface calm. The soft transitions between hues and textures invite contemplation, much like staring out at the horizon where sky and water meet, blurring the boundaries between what is visible and what is felt. This piece is less about capturing a specific scene and more about holding space for the quiet, expansive presence of the ocean—the way it reflects not just light, but our own inner landscapes.
